  Ride Your Bike in Bryce Canyon

  Enjoy Bryce Canyon at your own pace by riding your bike! Whether you're riding along the first few miles of the park on the Shared-Use Path or taking a longer ride on the main park road, there are biking opportunities for riders of all levels. Riding the Shared-Use Path The best way to cycle within the first three miles of the park is by using the Shared-Use Path. It provides 7 miles (11 km) of vehicle-free two-lane path connecting the shuttle station north of the park with the Visitor Center, Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Inspiration Point, and Bryce Point. Note that there is no off-pavement mountain biking, etc. in the park. All cyclists must stay to paved surfaces. The Shared-Use Path provides a scenic opportunity for pedestrians, leashed pets, cyclists, roller or in-line skaters, longboards, non-motorized scooters, wheelchairs, and cross-country skiers to access the park and surrounding areas. This 20 mile (32 km) path connects the hoodoos of Red Canyon on the western edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau with Bryce Point within the park and it generally follows SR-12 and UT-63. A Typical Visit Most park visitors will enjoy some portion of the 7 mile (11 km) section connecting Bryce Canyon City and the Shuttle Station to the park Visitor Center, Sunrise Point, Lodge, Sunset Point, Inspiration Point, and Bryce Point. If you want to enjoy a bicycle ride but didn't bring one, you can rent an Ebike or Standard bike at the Historic Service Station . Winter visitors might consider cross-country ski and snowshoe rental in Bryce Canyon City. The path generally climbs in elevation from north to south (Shuttle Station to Bryce Point). For those looking to enjoy more downhill than up, the park shuttle runs from April to October and can accomodate 2 bicycles on its front rack. In this way, one could enjoy a shuttle ride to Bryce Point and a mostly downhill 7-mile ride back to the shuttle station. Bike racks are located at Bryce, Inspiration, Sunset, and Sunrise Points as well as the Lodge, Visitor Center, and Shuttle Station. Shuttle Station to Bryce Point From the Park Shuttle Station it is 2.4 miles (3.9 km) to the Visitor Center , ascending 336 feet and descending 97 feet.   Bike the Katy Trail

  Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail

  Katy Trail State Park is a linear state park, running 240 miles across the state of Missouri between Clinton and Machens. Known as the country's longest continuous rail-trail, it attracts cyclists, walkers, equestrians, nature lovers, and history buffs seeking adventure along the Missouri River. The park was built on the former corridor of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (MKT or Katy), and features a hard, crushed limestone trail that gently winds through some of the most scenic areas of the state. Trail users pass under shady forest canopies, striking river bluffs, and through open farmlands and pastoral towns that developed alongside the railroad. With informative exhibits at every trailhead and many locations in between, visitors will enjoy learning about the rich cultural history of the region. Stop at the Old Franklin Townsite , eastern terminus of Santa Fe National Historic Trail , or follow the many Lewis and Clark historical markers that highlight the expedition's early days along the Missouri River, after departing Camp River Dubois in May, 1804. Trace the Path of Lewis and Clark The trail follows the route of the Corps of Discovery for roughly two thirds of its length, before it diverges from the Missouri River and heads south at Boonville. Connect with stories and events documented in the expedition's journals with with a series of trail-side exhibits at significant Lewis and Clark sites. The Katy Trail passes near five High Potential Historic Sites on Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail: Moniteau Creek at Manitou Bluffs Sugar Loaf Rock Clark's Hill State Historic Site Tavern Cave St. Charles Historic District Biking Tips The relatively flat grade makes this trail accessible to people of all ages and abilities. It is recommended that you always wear a helmet and bring spare tubes, a patch kit, and a portable bike pump in case of a flat tire. Many, but not all trailheads offer restroom facilities and water. Make sure to carry plenty of water, especially in the spring and summer months. Restrooms and water are turned off at all sites from November through March. Many lodging and campsite options are available from the trail for those planning a multiday adventure.   Hanford: Bike and Walk the Sacagawea Heritage Trail

  Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail

  Native Americans have lived in the Columbia Plateau since time immemorial. Their homelands include where the Tri-Cities and the Hanford Site in Washington are today. Sacagawea, a Lemhi Shoshone woman, accompanied the Corps of Discovery, better known as the Lewis and Clark Expedition, during their successful 1804 trip from St. Louis to Oregon. This expedition passed near the area where the Sacagawea Heritage Trail trail begins at Sacajawea Historical State Park . The trail explores the Columbia River waterfront in Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland. The trail is mostly off public roads and consists of a 23-mile (37 km) loop that also connects to the Richland Riverfront Trail for additional cycling and walking opportunities. As you travel along this trail, you will pass through city parks, riverfront business, and the Yakima River Delta. You will also gain a better sense of the importance of the Columbia, Snake, and Yakama rivers to the Tri-Cities. The Columbia River was a key factor in General Groves’ decision to select Hanford for plutonium production. An abundant supply of water was needed to cool the nuclear reactors. This is a multi-use trail for cyclists, walkers, and runners. Enjoy your ride! Biking Tips Make sure to bring plenty of water and wear breathable, light clothes if you go in the spring and summer months. It is recommended that you always wear a helmet. The Sacagawea Heritage Trail goes through several city parks where you may access restrooms during your trip. On the Pasco side of the Columbia River, the trail occasionally shares the road with vehicles. Exercise caution and cycle defensively while in traffic and on the trail. Bring spare tubes and portable bike pump in case of a flat tire. Trail Basics The Sacagawea Heritage Trail is a 23-mile (37 km) loop that traverses both sides of the Columbia River in the Tri-Cities through communities and city parks.   Blue Ridge Hills & Hollows

  Chesapeake Bay

  The Blue Ridge Hills & Hollows Bikepacking Route is a 300-mile mixed surface cycling experience that connects visitors to the history, landscapes, and communities of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Looping around Shenandoah National Park, the route links eight memorials created by the Blue Ridge Heritage Project that commemorate the families displaced during the park's establishment in the 1930s. As part of the Chesapeake Gateways Network, the route combines outdoor recreation with place-based interpretation, inviting cyclists to explore the headwaters of streams that flow into the Shenandoah, Potomac, Rappahannock, and James River watersheds before reaching the Chesapeake Bay. Traveling by bicycle encourages visitors to experience the landscape at a slower pace while passing through rural communities, agricultural valleys, forested hills, and scenic mountain roads. Interpretive materials, digital resources, and memorial sites share stories of Indigenous peoples, early settlement, mountain communities, and the lasting effects of park creation on local families. Along the route, visitors gain a deeper understanding of how geography, waterways, and cultural traditions have shaped the region over time. Clear navigation resources and trip planning information help cyclists travel safely while connecting with local communities and services throughout the route.   Bike the Bear Valley Trail to the Glen Trail Junction

  Distance: 6.2 miles (10 km) round trip, easy The first 3.1 miles (5 km) of the Bear Valley Trail to the trail's junction with the Glen and Baldy trails (aka the Glen Trail Junction) is open to bikes. Beginning at the Bear Valley Trailhead , this wide gravel trail through Douglas fir forest is great for a family cruise, a mellow ride, or the start of a multi-sport adventure! There is a bike rack available at the Glen Trail Junction, beyond which the trails enter the Phillip Burton Wilderness and bikes are prohibited. (Please note that none of the trails that branch off from the Bear Valley Trail are open to bicycles.) Some visitors choose to lock up their bikes at the Glen Trail Junction and continue their journey to the Coast Trail or other places on foot. To return to the Bear Valley Trailhead, retrace your ride back along the Bear Valley Trail. Visit the park's Bicycle Riding at Point Reyes National Seashore page for specific regulations pertaining to bicycles and tips and information about trail etiquette and safety. Bicyclists must yield to all other users, especially horse riders. Class I e-bikes under 750 watts (1 h.p.) are allowed on the northern 2.8 miles (4.5 km) of the Coast Trail. The speed limit for all bikes is 15 mph (24 km/h). Please ride respectfully. This route description alone is not a substitute for a trail map.
