  Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument

  Visit locations related to Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley not in the monument. These include two homes where Emmett and Mamie Till-Mobley lived, Argo Corn Products, and the Burr Oak Cemetery. Some of these locations are not open to the public. Please respect private property. Visit the Bronzeville-Black Metropolis National Heritage Area , which was established in December 2022. This newly designated area serves to recognize, preserve, and share this historic community of African American achievement. It includes properties related to arts and culture, civil rights, business, and industry. Roberts Temple Church of God in Christ is within the area. Find the full Chicago tour on the Emmett Till Memory Project . Visit nearby units of the National Park Service. These include Pullman National Historical Park and Indiana Dunes National Park .

  Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument

  Visit Roberts Temple Church of God in Christ in Chicago’s South Side, where the funeral for 14 year-old Emmett Till was held in 1955. There are currently no visitor services and only the exterior of the Church of God in Christ is open for visitors. Please respect the private property of the church. Find directions to Roberts Temple Church of God in Christ. Visitor information is located at Pullman National Historical Park 11 miles to the south. A Passport to Your National Parks® cancellation stamp for the Illinois unit is available at the Pullman National Historical Park Administration Clock Tower Building Visitor Center .

  Tennis in Rock Creek Park

  Rock Creek Park

  There are several open-play tennis courts in Rock Creek Park. There are four newly renovated courts at Montrose Park off of R Street NW in the Georgetown neighborhood. Four courts are also available at Francis Field off of 23rd St NW. When others are waiting, please limit your play to one hour. Activities at the Rock Creek Tennis Center are currently paused as negotiations for a new lease continue. We appreciate your patience during this process. We hope to share an update soon.

  Ranger Walkabouts

  Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park

  Join a Park Ranger and explore the Blackstone River Valley. During the months of June, July, and August, park staff offer specialty tours at varying locations across the Blackstone River Watershed. These programs begin at 6:30 PM and are 60-minutes long. Please wear comfortable footwear and bring water. Most tours are outside and often include walking on uneven surfaces on varying types of terrain with no access to bathroom facilities. Bug spray and sunscreen are also highly suggested. Please Note: There will be no Walkabout on July 2. June 4: From Forge to Fortune in Northbridge Location: 50 Douglas Rd, Whitinsville, MA How did the Revolutionary generation in Northridge set the stage for the future of American industry? Learn how a small forge along the Mumford River gave rise to a textile giant and a blueprint for American innovation. Tour will begin near the historic forge building, located within the Open Sky complex. June 11: Seeds of Success in Slatersville Location: 101 Green St, North Smithfield, RI Why was this location, along the Branch River, chosen for a mill village? How did financiers, workers, ministers, and farmers make this a thriving industrial community? This walk will take us through the well-preserved core of the country’s first planned mill village. Tour begins at Heritage Hall—parking is available in a small adjacent lot and by the Town Hall. June 18: "Owning Our History" with Peter Laarman Location: One Benevolent Street, Providence, RI Gather at the First Unitarian Church to explore the historic church and neighborhood and learn how slavery built dynastic wealth in Rhode Island. This tour will begin at the First Unitarian Church (corner of Benevolent and Benefit streets). June 25: Stepping Out to Skull Rock Lock Location: 300 Quaker Hwy, Uxbridge, MA Discover the history of Skull Rock Lock and take a walk with a ranger from the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). Meet in the parking lot of Uxbridge High School in Uxbridge, MA. Meet the rangers at Uxbridge High School. July 9: The Transportation Revolution in the Valley Location: Plummer's Landing Parking Area, Northbridge, MA Explore Plummer’s Landing and learn about the enterprising people of the Blackstone Valley who built the infrastructure for a transportation revolution.   Trails and Rails: Klondike Seattle

  Klondike Gold Rush - Seattle Unit National Historical Park

  Trails and Rails guides provide programs on the Coast Starlight daily through Sunday, September 27, 2026. They depart from Seattle on train #11 at 9:55am, arriving in Portland at 1:55pm. They depart northbound from Portland at 3:55pm, arriving back in Seattle at 7:51pm. On the Empire Builder , guides depart Seattle eastbound to Wenatchee on train #8 on Sundays and Thursdays at 4:55pm, arriving there at 8:50pm. They return from Wenatchee on train #7 at 6:45am on Mondays and Fridays, arriving back in Seattle at 11:30am. This program runs through Monday, September 7, 2026. The Trails and Rails program partners National Park Service volunteers and Amtrak trains to share stories about national, state, and local parks as well as places of interest along the routes.
