Utah Mighty 5
7 days · Springdale → Bryce Canyon City → Torrey → Moab
Road trips · Scenic drives
“Plan a realistic 7-day Utah Mighty 5 road trip covering Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands. Keep the driving realistic and don’t cram every day.”

Overview
Seven west-to-east road-trip days, starting in Las Vegas and ending with a third night in Moab. Assumes departure via Salt Lake City on the following day, with flights outside this itinerary.
Recommended bases: Springdale for nights 1–2, Bryce Canyon City for night 3, Torrey for night 4, and Moab for nights 5–7. Short optional walks are the default, not an assumed hiking limitation. Transfer blocks are generous planning allowances, not confirmed route durations.

Things to Know
Dates, access and departure
This undated itinerary assumes suitable road and walking conditions, not confirmed openings. Check Zion transportation arrangements, Arches timed-entry requirements for your dates, and each park’s road/trail alerts. Bryce’s seasonal shuttle is generally recommended rather than mandatory for ordinary passenger cars (NPS shuttle guidance); large vehicles have additional restrictions. If an outing is unavailable, substitute accessible roadside scenery rather than a more demanding hike. Avoid exposed walks in dangerous heat or storms; snow and ice can affect Bryce and higher roads.
Allow a separate travel day after Day 7 for Moab to Salt Lake City and a conservative airport buffer—preferably an overnight before an early flight. A Las Vegas round trip requires materially more driving. UT-12 is a scenic mountain route, not a shortcut to rush. Transfer allowances here are planning buffers; actual routes and timing depend on dates and conditions.
- Road travel times are shown for planning. Shuttle/private-vehicle access depends on your travel dates; check access rules before setting out.
- Seasonal access, reservations and conditions change; confirm them for your dates.

I’ve built a west-to-east, 7-day road trip that covers all five parks without trying to add a major hike every day:
- Day 1: Las Vegas to Springdale, with a gentle afternoon.
- Day 2: A full Zion day.
- Day 3: Move to Bryce Canyon for hoodoo scenery.
- Day 4: Take scenic UT-12 to Torrey, with a light Capitol Reef introduction.
- Day 5: More Capitol Reef, then move to Moab.
- Day 6: Arches, with an afternoon break.
- Day 7: Canyonlands’ Island in the Sky district, then a final night in Moab.
The key is two nights in Springdale, one near Bryce, one in Torrey, and three in Moab. Capitol Reef gets time across two days rather than becoming a roadside checkbox, and you won’t change hotels between Arches and Canyonlands.
Assumptions: Start in Las Vegas on Day 1 and leave from Salt Lake City the day after Day 7. This is seven road-trip days—not seven days including both flights. Returning to Las Vegas would add substantial backtracking. If flights must fit inside the seven days, tell me; that needs a tighter version.
The saved plan includes generous transfer allowances rather than treating nonstop driving times as the whole travel day. Walks are optional and mostly short; the Arches plan uses the distant Delicate Arch viewpoint, not the strenuous hike to the arch itself.
Spring or fall generally makes this easier than summer heat or winter snow. Once you choose dates, check Zion’s shuttle arrangements, Arches entry requirements, and road/trail conditions before committing to the daily details.
