First-time visitors · Valley views
“Plan a clean 3-day first-time Yosemite itinerary with Valley views, one moderate hike, scenic stops, and enough downtime that the weekend doesn’t feel rushed.”

Overview
Three full sightseeing days: classic Valley scenery, one moderate hike with recovery time, then high-country views without another strenuous outing. Arrival and departure travel are additional.
Stay in Yosemite Valley for both nights to minimize commuting; El Portal is an alternative. Assumes a car is available for the overlooks, not that transportation is booked.

Things to Know
This undated plan does not confirm current access. Check Yosemite's official website for road and trail conditions, any entry-reservation requirements, and date-specific transportation details. Use the Valley shuttle where practical rather than repeatedly moving the car.
Glacier Point Road is seasonal. If it is unavailable, replace that excursion with a leisurely Valley morning and an optional short Mirror Lake walk, retaining the afternoon rest and Valley View stop. Snow or ice can also make the footbridge hike unsuitable: confirm conditions before setting out; if unsafe, substitute an easier Valley walk rather than forcing the moderate hike. Carry water, snacks, layers and footwear with traction.
- Road travel times are shown for planning. Shuttle/private-vehicle access depends on your travel dates; check access rules before setting out.
- Seasonal access, reservations and conditions change; confirm them for your dates.
Trailie’s original answer
Recorded October 15, 2026. Conditions and availability may have changed.
I created a relaxed three-day Yosemite plan with one main focus each day:
- Day 1: Classic Valley views and easy meadow-and-waterfall walks.
- Day 2: A moderate hike to Vernal Fall Footbridge, followed by an intentionally free afternoon.
- Day 3: Glacier Point’s big panorama and a final Valley scenic stop, without adding another demanding hike.
The sequence gives you Yosemite’s signature scenery without turning every day into a checklist. I assumed three full sightseeing days, a base in Yosemite Valley, and access to a car for the scenic overlooks; arrival and departure travel are additional. El Portal is an alternative base, but adds commuting.
Glacier Point is seasonal, and current road and trail conditions haven’t been confirmed for your dates. The plan includes a Valley-based fallback; check Yosemite’s official guidance for access and any entry-reservation requirements before traveling. Share your month and whether these three days include travel, and I can refine the fit.
